Bilaspur. The Chhattisgarh High Court has delivered a major verdict in the CGPSC 2021 recruitment case. On Monday, the court ordered that all selected candidates against whom the CBI has not filed a chargesheet must be appointed within 60 days. These candidates were selected for prestigious posts like Deputy Collector and DSP.
The court clarified that all appointments will be subject to the ongoing CBI investigation and further court decisions. This ruling came in response to a petition filed by 44 selected candidates through 12 advocates, who argued that withholding their joining due to a prolonged investigation was unjust.
The High Court had concluded the hearing on May 2 and had reserved its judgment, which has now been pronounced.
To recap, allegations of irregularities in the CGPSC 2021 recruitment process led the state government to hand over the investigation to the CBI. So far, the CBI has filed chargesheets against four candidates. However, several other selected candidates were denied appointments, prompting them to approach the High Court.
Earlier, the state government informed the court that those under suspicion would not be appointed until further hearings, and that the appointments already made would remain subject to the court’s final decision.
