Korba. (Chhattisgarh). A tragic incident occurred in Korba district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, when a well collapsed due to heavy rainfall. The incident took place in Banwar village under the Jatga police outpost of the Katghora police station area. Three members of the same family—a husband, wife, and their son—lost their lives in this accident.
According to reports, the three had entered the well to retrieve a motor pump when the structure suddenly collapsed, trapping them under the debris. The incident caused panic in the village, and locals immediately informed the police and rescue teams.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene and began operations, but the three could not be saved as they were buried under the rubble. The police recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem. The incident has left the entire village in shock.
The local administration has launched an investigation into the matter. Heavy rainfall is believed to have weakened the walls of the well, leading to the collapse. Authorities have advised people to avoid going near old and unstable wells.
